There is a Strategic Approach and Attitude to Survive Divorce Process

We All Need A Champion

It's called Pragmatism.  The Oxford English Dictionary basically defines this as orienting toward achieving a "practical result."

Doesn't this sound easy?  Doesn't this sound like a logical, sensible way to focus energy in a time of stress?

Sure.

Now let's talk about how easy, because it isn't easy.

This means when the opposing counsel seems to be asking for the moon.  This means when your former lover is acting like, you pick the word.  This means when there are costs and deductions from retirement funds or splitting up the net proceeds of sale of the house, if the house has to be sold to make this whole thing, the division of property come out fairly (and equitably).

None of that is so easy or unemotional.

What you really want to do  -- and, by the way  -- this includes your lawyer, who can get caught up in the unreasonable demands or attitude of the other lawyer or of the entire unfair situation:

Pragmatism.

Seeing the endpoint without letting the aggravation send you to the chiropractor.  Saying that taking a shot, saying something really ripe, telling those blankety, blank, sobs, what you REALLY think, probably inflames, makes worse, creates humps to get over that might even be bigger and longer lasting inside your own skin, than ever would be the case if you let that philosopher William James and his telling of the Pragmatism story, as taken to heart, used as your guide.

Is this cold? Surgical?  Unrealistic?

Yes.

Is it possible really to do?

No.

Should you see that keeping your involvement to the purpose of achieving "a practical result" is actually what, when it boils down to it, is key.

Yes.
